Community Outreach
As part of our initiative to serve the community, we work with local public schools each semester to educate the next generation of engineers on international issues. Our program began in 2004 as our chapter's first service project. Engineering students visited Blacksburg High School to mentor students of all academic levels in a McGyver-style group project.
In the fall of 2008, some of the members of EWB at Virginia Tech participated in a Habitat for Humanity house. The work ranged from yardwork to installing insulation to pouring concrete and everything inbetween! Not only was this a great way for the members of EWB to do a little team-building, but it was a great opportunity to do something for our local community here in Blacksburg.
